The Vice Lord-Lieutenant
The Lord-Lieutenant may appoint a Vice Lord-Lieutenant. A nomination is submitted to the Prime Minister in order that the approval of The Queen may be obtained. Under most circumstances the Vice Lord-Lieutenant will carry out such duties as the Lord-Lieutenant decides and stand in for him when he cannot be present, is absent, sick or otherwise unable to act. The appointment as Vice Lord-Lieutenant does, however, end when the Lord-Lieutenant who made the appointment leaves his/her post. By statute, Vice Lord-Lieutenants retire at age 75.
The current Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London is Wing Commander Mike Dudgeon OBE DL
